Adele M. “Lila” Grabon, age 96, of Holyoke, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at her home holding hands with family members by her side. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Piotr and Franciszka (Guzdek) Grabon and was a graduate of Holyoke High School and the former Holyoke Business School. Lila was a retired 35-year Secretary/Clerk for the United States Government, working as a civilian employee of the United States Army. She enjoyed spending time at the Holyoke Senior Center and the Holyoke YMCA where in her later years she swam more than 50 miles. She enjoyed tap dancing and candlepin bowling. She had donated more than 32 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross during her lifetime. Lila is survived by several nieces and nephews including Angela Andrick, Frances Z. Bourdon, and Anthony “Tony Z” Zebrowksi, as well as many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Boleslaw, Cazmer and Adam Grabon; and two sisters, Nellie E. (Grabon) Ondrick and Anna F. (Grabon) Zebrowksi. The Funeral will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street in Holyoke. Rites of Committal and Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Pittroff Avenue, South Hadley. Lila’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Lila to Kate’s Kitchen, 51 Hamilton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
