EAST OTIS:  Albert G. Hurley, 89, died at home on June 1, 2017. Born in Holyoke on April 24, 1928 to the late John E and Bertha F (Radcliffe) Hurley. Al was a longtime resident of Otis and loved his time on the reservoir there. Al was an Army Veteran during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal and The Army of Occupation Medal - Japan. He was the head mechanic for the Holyoke Police Department for many years and also operated Hurley's Garage where he handled the maintenance for The New England Phone Company and then Verizon. Al has gone to be with his loving wife Doris (Crenshaw) Hurley who predeceased him. He leaves his step son Gordon Lee Wilson and his wife Vickie, as well as his brother John E. Hurley, Jr and his wife Carol L (Aspden) Hurley of Holyoke. He also leaves his nephews Gregory K. Hurley and his wife Cheryl of Granby, Edward A Hurley and his wife Mary of Holyoke, LeeJay Hurley of Nantucket and 8 grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his niece Cynthia (Hurley) Camus. He also leaves behind his longtime friend and companion Janice Hawley of Otis. Al had a love for most anything with a motor from his cars to his boats to his snowmobiles and was a member and past president of The Knox Trail Snow Riders Club and a member of The Hill Town Rodders Club. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:00am in Second Baptist Church, 589 Granby Rd. South Hadley. Burial will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Otis Cemetery, Otis, MA. Calling hours are Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Holyoke Soldiers Home in Holyoke, The Second Baptist Church in South Hadley, or The Alzheimer’s Association of Western Mass.
