HOLYOKE:  Alejandro Sanchez Sr. age 82, of Holyoke, died peacefully at home May 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Maricao, Puerto Rico, son of Salvador Homs and Ines Sanchez. Alejandro drove PVTA buses for 27 years until his retirement in January 2000, and then continued driving for Holyoke Public Schools until June 2010. He was one of the founding members of Iglesia de Dios Mateo 11:28 in Chicopee, MA. Alejandro is survived by his wife Amelia Sánchez-Vélez; four children: Edwin Sanchez and his wife Aurea of Orlando, FL, Adair Medina and her husband Lucas of Chicopee, Alejandro Sanchez, Jr. and his wife Stefanie of Southwick, MA, and Melvin Sanchez and his wife Magdeline of Springfield, MA; 15 grandchildren Adamelis, Alexander, Alyssa, Daniel, Erica, Gabriella, Samantha, Ashton, Ian, Isaiah, Jackie, Batell, Abel, Adair M., and Edwin O.  and 7 great-grandchildren Lucas, Ricky, Carter, Joshua, Maiki, Anaja, and Ariana. Calling hours will be held Monday May 8 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will be held Tuesday, May 9th at 10:00am in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke.
