Barbara Guin Obituary

HOLYOKE:  Barbara L. “Bobbi” (White) Guin, age 85, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Charlene Manor in Greenfield, MA following a period of declining heath.  She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Holyoke Police Officer James White and Margaret (Reynolds) White of Holyoke.  Bobbi attended local schools and lived in her beloved City of Holyoke most of her life.  On August 9, 1952 she married Stacy H. Guin at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke. Stacy and Bobbi met when he was an Airman stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. They were married for 64 years until his passing in 2016. Bobbi spent most of her life dedicated to raising her family. Over the years, she worked for several local companies, including Edmund G. Woods Real Estate, Totsy Manufacturing, Ridgewood Caterers, and Steigers. Most recently, she enjoyed working each fall at the Big E where she could take part in the excitement of the fair. Bobbi and Stacy dedicated countless hours to promote and enjoy their love of Square Dancing. They received the Distinguished Service Award from the Western Mass Square Dance Co-op and were members of the Chic-Mates Square Dance Club.  She loved to travel with family and friends. Some of her favorite places were Hawaii, Pennsylvania, and the ocean.  Bobbi instilled in her three children the love of family and carrying on traditions, including celebrating Christmas Eve all together.  She is survived by two sons, David Guin and his wife Ann of Westfield, and Daniel Guin and his wife Tammy of Greenfield; a daughter, Deborah Bean and her husband Matthew of Southampton; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother James White, and two sisters, Agnes D’Amour and Margaret “Peggy” Lyons.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, 23 Sycamore Street, Holyoke. A gathering for friends and family will be held following the service. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J.
