HOLYOKE:  Claire L. (Whalen) Clark, 88 of Holyoke, passed away Monday December 4, 2017 at Holyoke Health Care Center. She was born January 9, 1929 daughter of the late David and Blanche (Pratt) Whalen and was a graduate of Holyoke High School, Class of 1946. Claire worked for many years as a paraprofessional at Sullivan School in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She leaves her four daughters: Susan Monahan and her husband James of Holyoke, Lynn Racine of Chicopee, Mary MacDonald and her husband Dennis of Hinsdale, NH, and Jamie Clark of Holyoke. She leaves 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Claire also leaves her sister Barbara Graves, her brother Carlton (Buddy Ernst), and her sister Marilyn Remington, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James Clark in 1996, and her sister Patsy LaChappelle. The family would like to thank the staff at Holyoke Health Care Center for their care of Claire. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00pm, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
