HOLYOKE

Colin A. Hodges, age 31, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 in Holyoke.  He was born in Holyoke, son of Teresa A. (Ferguson) Turcotte of Holyoke and Thomas A. Hodges of WI. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School where he was a standout athlete as well as Holyoke Community College where he was pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Business.  A United States Navy Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, HM2 (FMF) Hodges served from 2006 to 2013 and completed operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.  Outside of his professional career, Colin was known for his community involvement organizing events around the holidays for the Holyoke community.  The best known of these events, a Thanksgiving dinner for needy families in the area, is a tradition started by Colin which will be carried on in his name by the surviving family and close friends.  Besides his parents, he is survived by his son, Gabriel of Holyoke; two brothers, Corey Hodges of Holyoke and Kyle Turcotte of Chicopee; two sisters, Katie Hodges of Holyoke and Keri Cassesse of Springfield; a step-mother Lisa Hodges of TX; his son’s mother, Telisha De Jesus of Holyoke; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  The Funeral Procession will be held on Tuesday, August 15th at 12:00 p.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by Committal with Military Honors at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.  Calling hours will be held Monday, August 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  and Tuesday, August 15th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Colin to a College Readiness Fund established for his son Gabriel by visiting https://www.gofundme.com/gabriels-college-readiness-fund or by contacting the family.
