David T. Gregory of Holyoke, formerly of Easthampton, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Holyoke Medical Center, with his loving daughter by his side. He was born in Northampton, son of the late Edwin T. Gregory, Jr. and Jeannette (Pepin) Gregory, attended Easthampton Schools, and was a 1960 graduate of Easthampton High School. David was a 1966 graduate of American International College, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Social work from the University of Connecticut. He worked for the former Edmund B. Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton during his senior year of high school and during summer breaks from college. David worked for Tidy Home (a Division of Lestoil) early on in his career. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance in Holyoke and Springfield, retiring from the Springfield office as a Supervisor after 43 years of service. David belonged to the Civil Air Patrol; was a Representative of the Local Emergency Planning Committee in Holyoke (L.A.P.C.); was a 1985 graduate of the Western MA Regional Police Academy and was a volunteer Holyoke Auxiliary Police Officer for 23 years, serving as Executive Officer and Major. He was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher, and David was also an avid photographer. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his thirteen-year-old brother, Edwin T. Gregory III, and two cousins, Ronnie and Neil Pepin. David is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Gregory, of Easthampton; two cousins, Ruth (Pepin) Matthews of Southampton and Patricia (Pepin) Kennedy of Easthampton and his former wife, Dorothy (Craven) Gregory, also of Easthampton. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 17^th at 10:15 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Easthampton.
