Denise P. Cayer, 84 of West Springfield, passed away peacefully Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. She was born in Canada, daughter of the late Joseph W. and Donalda (Lareau) Cayer, and was educated in Canadian and Holyoke schools. Denise worked as a laborer at Acme Chain Co. and was the proprietor of Denise’s Ceramics in Holyoke for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Parish. Denise is survived by a brother, Real L. Cayer of South Yarmouth, MA; two sisters: Rita A. Petersen of West Springfield, and Claire A. Herzenberg of Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by two brothers: Roland A. Cayer and Norman Cayer, and a sister, Yvette J. Matlock. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow for the care and comfort the provided Denise. The funeral will be held on Wednesday December 13 at 9:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, followed by Mass at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church. Burial will take place in St. Jerome Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30.
