Ferdinand A. Meneghini

HOLYOKE:  Ferdinand “Fred” Meneghini, age 96 and a lifelong resident of Holyoke MA, passed away peacefully March 16, 2018 at Holyoke Medical Center with family by his side. Fred was born November 7, 1921 in Holyoke MA to the late John and Mary(Moroni) Meneghini. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Giulia (1995). He is survived by his son John of Boston MA, and 2 daughters, Diane Spazzarini and her husband Mark of Enfield CT and Lisa Meneghini of Holyoke MA. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Brian, Daniel, and Kelly Spazzarini. Fred was a graduate of Holyoke High school and graduated from Baypath University with an Associate’s degree in Accounting. He worked for many years at Moroni’s market which was his family’s business on Main St in Holyoke. When the small grocery store closed he worked as a salesman for Franks Inc. presently known as Springfield Food Service. He was well known in the local restaurant community for his loyalty to all his customers. He worked there till the ripe old age of 75! He was a lifetime member of the Holyoke Elks and also a member of the Italian Progressive Society. Fred was a simple man with very few wants other than spending time with his family at home. He was also an avid Red sox fan. As a younger man he was frequently seen tinkering around the house and yard and playing cards with his friends on Saturday nights. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking with his grandchildren. Fred was blessed with a long, happy life and can now join his wife Giulia who he has missed for over 22 years. We will miss you very much. The funeral will be held Thursday, March 22nd at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke MA 01040.
