HOLYOKE: George A. Paquin, age 89, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Wilfrid and Florence (Denette) Paquin and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. George was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving from 1945 until 1947. He was a longtime Superintendent for the Town of Wilbraham Highway Department, retiring in 1990. George was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4044, VFW, Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902, and the American Legion. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Chevalier) Paquin, who died in 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Debra A. Riel of NH, and three sons, Thomas G. Paquin and his wife Terry of Holyoke, Ronald J. Paquin and his wife Jeannot of NM, Richard F. Paquin and his wife Maureen of South Hadley; 16 grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, Danielle, Randy, Jessica, Jasmine, Jacqueline, Ryan, Riley, Jorgalyn, Reese, Richard, Robert, Russell, Bethany and Colleen and 9 great grandchildren, Eleanor, Kolbe, Gianna, Cayden, Riley, Summer, Molly, Colton and Sadie. George is also survived by 2 sisters, Mary Lacoste and Jeanne Toth. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at 8:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of George to Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
