SOUTH HADLEY

Heidi J. Sheehan, 44 of South Hadley passed away on August 13 after a brief battle with cancer.  Heidi, daughter of Marcia Voudren and the late Kenneth P. Voudren was born in Saranac Lake, NY on June 2, 1973.  Raised in South Carolina, Heidi graduated from Dorman High School in Spartanburg, SC.  She would go on to earn her R.N. License and begin her career in the operating room at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY.  Heidi would eventually spend many years as a traveling nurse in operating rooms across the country.  Heidi loved meeting new people and discovering new places, she especially enjoyed her years at Massachusetts General Hospital and Mass Eye and Ear Hospital in Boston. Heidi would eventually accept a position at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after marrying the love of her life, her husband Greg.  Heidi made friends everywhere she went and Cooley Dickinson was no different.  You always knew where you stood with Heidi.  She loved to travel and entertain friends and family.  Key West and York Maine were two of her favorites.  Christmas Brunches (never on Christmas) and Kentucky Derby parties were looked forward to by many all year long.  While studying to be a nurse Heidi accepted a position to nanny for the Goldberg’s and their four children.  This would become more than just a job, their relationship would go on to evolve into a mutual love and admiration for each other.  They would build a lifelong connection that she cherished until her very last day on earth.  If you never heard her talk about her nanny family then you really never knew Heidi.  Heidi leaves behind her loving husband Greg, her mother Marcia Voudren, her brother Eric Voudren and his wife Nikki as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece and nephew.  She will be greatly missed by her extended family Neil and Robin Goldberg, Seth and Leah Goldberg, Shira and Jared Boschan, Adam and Amire Goldberg, and Miriam (Punkers) Goldberg.  Heidi truly loved her OR2 family at Cooley Dickinson- Fallon, Michaelson, Nicky, Johnny B, Danielson, Joey, Noviello, Topal, Sam, Baby Cuke and Mama Lynn.  Heidi will also be greatly missed by her spoiled rotten dog Maximus (Zoogy) who she absolutely adored and cherished. Calling hours are Friday August 18 from 3 to 7pm at the Barry Farrell Funeral Home on Northampton Street in Holyoke, Ma.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 19 at St. Patrick’s Church in South Hadley at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to- Dorman All Sports Booster Club Scholarship Fund- Heidi.  P.O. Box 9, Roebuck, SC. 29376, The Heidi Voudren Sheehan Scholarship will be given to a male or female Dorman High School Senior that has served the athletic department as a student trainer.  This scholarship will be given annually to a new student each year.  The qualifications for this scholarship will include submitting an essay, a recommendation by a teacher/ trainer and must be attending a college or university that coming fall.
