Ingrid Kim Morse (Powell) – known simply as “Kim” – passed away on Monday, January 8, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Long Island in 1961, Kim was raised in Holyoke’s Beaudoin Village, and often recalled with great fondness her days playing with her friends from the neighborhood. She grew to be a lively, hilarious, compassionate, deeply loving woman who touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her. She was a member of the first graduating class at Peck School, and a member of Holyoke High School’s Class of 1979. As a teenager, she met Tracey Morse, who would become her best friend, her life partner, and her husband. The two raised three sons, all of whom brought great happiness to Kim’s life. At their home on St. Jerome Ave, Kim ran a daycare, where she treated every child who came through the door with care and a sense of fun. She went back to school in her 40s – a feat she was always so proud of – receiving her associate’s degree in Human Services and her LPN certificate from Holyoke Community College. She was the beating heart of her family: a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and an all-around source of love and generosity. She made life better, fuller, and more vibrant just by being who she was. She would do anything for her family, and in recent years, she was a fixture on the sidelines of her grandkids’ sports games, as well as her youngest son’s mayoral campaigns. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Tracey; her three sons Doug, Matt, and Alex; her mother Sandra Powell; her daughter-in-law Jessica; her sister Gina; her brother David and his wife Vicki; her grandchildren Gavin, Lauren, and Nathan; and her nieces and nephews Jillian, Ariana, Nicholas, Joshua, Tyler, Damian, Patrick, and Gabriel. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 16, from 3-7 p.m. at Wistariahurst in Holyoke at 238 Cabot Street.
