Janet Ruth (Sillars) Falvey, age 82, passed away peacefully Saturday September 30, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. Janet was born in Danvers, MA, daughter of the late Harold and Linda (Harris) Sillars, received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst and her Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Elms College. Janet was a librarian in the children’s department of the Holyoke Public Library for many years. She was the widow of Russell E. Falvey, who died in 1995. Janet is survived by a daughter, Kim Elizabeth Joniec and her husband William of South Hadley; two sons: Thomas M. Falvey and his wife Jennifer of Columbia, South Carolina, and Paul R. Falvey and his wife Sherryl of Summerville, South Carolina; and three grandchildren: William J. Joniec, Jr., and Jack and Kate Falvey. Janet was predeceased by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Thurston. All services are private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to the Holyoke Public Library, 250 Chestnut Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
