Jean M. (Marinello) Pelland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at home with family after a long battle with chronic illness. Born in Northampton on May 29, 1934 to Anna (Netto) and Stefano Marinello of Italy, she was one of eleven children. Jean was a graduate of Saint Michael’s High School. She has three children Lisa Pelland of Holyoke, Lori and husband Jeffery McFarland of Easthampton and Lynn Pelland of Turners Falls and two grandchildren Kayla McFarland and Haley McFarland, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean has one surviving sister Marcella Ruddeforth of Northampton. She is predeceased by three brothers Joseph Marinello, Marco Marinello and Vito Marinello and six sisters Lucia Orlandi, Jenny Gordon, Mary Dowling, Marguerite Smith, Hazel Jones and Anne Durham. Jean was a retired maintenance worker and was employed in several establishments including Cutchins Center for Children and Families and the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton. Jean enjoyed scratch tickets, going for rides, karaoke and being with family—if you knew Jean you loved her. A service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, September 20th at 12:00 p.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street in Holyoke. Burial will be private. Calling hours will held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation or Holyoke Hospice VNA.
