John J. (Jack / Shanty) Hogan passed away peacefully on Saturday July 15th at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. His wife Joan was calling him and it was his time to be with her once again. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves behind 8 children, 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. John grew up in Holyoke, he served our country in World War II. He served from ,1943-1946. John was a WWII Veteran, Master Sargent, Radio Operator, in the American Army Eighth Air Force 801st/492nd Bomb Group. His group flew highly classified Special Operations throughout Europe from Harrington Field, Northamptonshire, England, known as the “Carpetbaggers”. The crews equipped resistance groups from Norway to Yugoslavia. After returning from the war John married Joan (LaFlamme) and raised their 8 children. John worked for New England Telephone for 38 years. After retiring from the phone company, he co-founded Hogan Technology with two of his sons. John and Joan enjoyed living out their retirement years in Titusville, FL at the Great Outdoors. He will be missed by so many. The family would like to thank Natalia and Allegra from Hospice for their help and support with John and Joan. Calling hours are from 5-7 PM Wednesday July 19th, at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street in Holyoke. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of the Cross in Holyoke, on Thursday at 9:30 AM, with a burial service at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please help a veteran and donate to the Holyoke Soldiers Home in honor of John J.
