Judith E. (Johnson) DiCarlo, age 74, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully Saturday December 23, 2017 at Wingate of East Longmeadow. Judith was a lifelong resident of Holyoke, daughter of the late Harold and Mary K. (Swift) Johnson, and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1961. Judy, as she liked to be called, then attended and graduated from Kay Harvey Beauty School, and spent a significant amount of her life working as a hairdresser at various salons in the Holyoke area. In 2000, Judy studied for and passed her certification exam to become a Pharmacy Technician, and worked at Brooke’s Drugs on Northampton Street in Holyoke before moving on to a position at Cooley Dickenson Hospital in Northampton from which she retired in 2015. Judy is survived by two children: Joseph A. DiCarlo III and his wife Jennifer of Easthampton, and Marla J. (DiCarlo) Deschenes and her husband David of Enfield, CT along with her 3 grandchildren, Janine DiCarlo, 15, Collin DiCarlo, 9, and David Jackson Deschenes, age 3. She is also survived by her long-time partner Donald Monroe, originally from Northfield, MA. A funeral service will be held Friday January 5, 2018 at 11:00am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Friday prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00am.
