Margaret Veronica “Marge” (Sheard) Lally, 101, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Shea) Sheard and graduated from the former Sacred Heart High School in Holyoke and McCarthy Business School in Northampton. Marge was employed for eighteen years as a secretary in the anesthesia department at Holyoke Medical Center, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed sewing and spending time at the Holyoke Senior Center. Her husband, James A. Lally, predeceased her on November 18, 1999. Marge is survived by one daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Colleran and her husband Paul of Needham; four grandchildren: Margaret “Meg” Colleran, Ellen Colleran, Eileen Colleran Sorensun, and John Colleran; a great granddaughter Gracie, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, James, George, Arthur Jr. and William Sheard, and two sisters. Mary Coakley and Dody O’Donnell. A calling hour will be held Friday, September 1^st from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mas in Saint Patrick Chapel of Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Jerome Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Saint Joseph Retirement Fund, 577 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104.
