SOUTH HADLEY: Mary A. (Griess) St. Germain, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Arbors in Chicopee on Thursday, July 6, 2017. She was born in Williamsport, PA, daughter of the late George and Margaret (Handley) Griess and was a graduate of Holyoke High School and the former Northampton Commercial College. Mary worked as a teller at Peoples Bank for many years, retiring in the mid 1980s. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish in South Hadley, and enjoyed her time volunteering at Holyoke Hospital, as well as being a member of their Auxiliary Board. Mary loved spending time at the Holyoke Senior Center. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Leo St. Germain on November 5, 1981; a sister, Margaret Louise Griess O’Neill, a brother, George Griess and his wife Betty. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Jubinville of South Hadley; two sons, David St. Germain of Holyoke and Mark St. Germain and his wife Dorothy of Westfield; five grandchildren, Mark, Andrew, Sarah, Leigh Anne, and Jillian; four great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Paul Perron and several nieces and nephews. Her two cousins in Williamsport, PA, Richard and William will remember her fondly. Her family’s fondest memories of Mary will be her faith in God and her talents in music, sewing and cooking. The Funeral will be Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass in St. Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holyoke Medical Center or Hospice LifeCare, both located at 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
