Regina J. (Mastalerz) Skwirz 84, of Holyoke, MA died August 12th surrounded by her adoring family after a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer. Regina was born on Sept 27, 1932 in Three Rivers, MA, daughter of the late John Mastalerz and Frances (Milos) Mastalerz. Regina was a devoted housewife and mother. She exemplified the role of mother, dedicating her life to caring for her family. She was a devout, loyal, loving person who will be greatly missed. Regina liked spending time babysitting her grandchildren, going out to lunch, shopping at the Holyoke Mall, having picnics, and going on family vacations to the beach. Regina also treasured simple pleasures like going out for ice cream, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching TV with her husband. Later in life, she enjoyed cruises on the Caribbean and casino excursions with the Golden Agers. Regina was a Communicant of Mater Dolorosa Parish and St. Jerome Parish in Holyoke, MA. She loved the Lord and her family with her entire heart and soul. Regina raised her beautiful singing voice to praise Our Savior at weekly Mass.  Regina leaves her beloved husband, Edward A. Skwirz. They were married on September 26, 1953 and were blessed with 63 years of happiness. In addition, she also leaves her four children, George E. Skwirz and his wife Jean of Meriden, CT, Patricia A. Dionne and her husband, Gary of Feeding Hills, MA, Edward A. Skwirz, Jr. of Holyoke, MA, and Mary Walczak and her husband, John of West Springfield, MA. Regina also leaves her dearest grandchildren: Andrea, Allison, Ashley, Alex, Rachel, Joseph, and Christopher, and two cherished great-grandchildren: Amelie and Clayton. She is also survived by her brother, Stanley Mastalerz of Ludlow, MA. and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and 13 siblings. The funeral will be held Monday August 21 at 9:30a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Patrick’s Chapel of St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden St, Holyoke, MA.
