Rita T. “Terry” (McDonnell) Cournoyer, 80, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully Saturday September 30, 2017 with her family by her side at Wingate of Wilbraham. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Paul E. and Rita T. (McCarthy) McDonnell, and educated in Holyoke schools. Terry worked in the meat departments of several local grocery stores for many years. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Cournoyer; two daughters: Kim Cournoyer and her husband Richard of Chicopee, and Patti Guay and her husband Dominic of Westfield; a son Michael Griffin of Springfield; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her former daughter-in-law Ruth. Calling hours for Terry will be held Friday from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, followed by a graveside service in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Aldenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
