Robert Healey, 89, passed on to another life on August 14th,  joining his wife, Mary Rose O’Hara (2016) and son, Michael (1969).  Born in Fitchburg, Mass, Bob was the son of the late Jeremiah Healey and Elizabeth Farrell, brother of the late Gerald Healey, Norman Healey and Elizabeth Healey Broughey; father of Patty Healey and her husband Joseph Twarog; Robert Healey and the late Michael Healey; and grandfather of  Maria Twarog and her fiancée, Joseph Zimmerman of Belmont;  Michaela Twarog of California, Sophia Twarog of North Carolina; Bryan Healey and his wife, Kristi of Boston; Brianna Healey Proctor and her husband Scott of Lunenburg. Bobby graduated from St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School, served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer, Second Class, a plane captain, and Crew Leader of Fighter Squadron 33 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte during the Korean War. He was a member of the U.S.S Leyte Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 14000, and American Legion Post 0239. Bob was happiest when living with his wife during his retirement years in Leesburg, Florida before moving to Belchertown and Easthampton, Mass. He was a diehard Patriots fan and lifelong Red Sox fan, a fine craftsman, woodworker, and restorer of antique cars. His grandchildren were the light of his life and gave him much joy until the end of his days. At Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors is planned by his family on Saturday, August 26th at 11 am at St Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg, MA.  In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations be made to: Cure Alzheimers Fund of Wellesley, MA;  National Network to End Domestic Violence in Washington, DC;  or a charity of your choice. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
