Shirley R. Reed, 89, of Holyoke, MA. was called to everlasting life on April 30, 2017 at the Mont Marie Rehabilitation Center with the love of her family surrounding her. She was born September 30, 1927 to Henry R. and Rose (Farrell) Desautels. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1945. After graduation, she pursued a career in retail, working for many years at W. T. Grant. Her love of music inspired her to open Shirl's Record Whirl in 1966, that flourished for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. Shirley was an avid Celtics and Patriots fan and greatly enjoyed dining out, occasional trips to the casino and vacationing with family and friends. She was known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and their friends.  Her most cherished time was spent with her family and the great times they shared together over the years. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Rose Desautels, her husband William of 62 years, her son-in law Vernon Comstock. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Comstock of Easthampton, granddaughters, who loved their Nana, Kristen and husband Dominic Diyanni, Melissa and husband Ryan Sousa, and Jennifer Patton, six great-grandchildren: Brittany, Kaitlyn, Ronnie, Cassidy, Caprice and Mila; as well as many extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend much thanks to all the compassion given to her by her caregivers.  The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke at 10:00 am.  Burial will be in Saint Jerome's Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4:00 to 7:00pm.
