HOLYOKE: Alfred J. Smiarowski, age 86, formerly of Granby, passed away Sunday December 17, 2017 at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst. Alfred was born in Holyoke, son of the late Joseph and Helen (Dombrowski) Smiarowski. He retired as a machinist for the Titeflex in 1993. Al was an avid fisherman and enjoyed farming, fixing tractors and cars, and “loved life.” He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Trottier) Smiarowski, and his son, Kenneth J. Smiarowski. He is survived by two daughters: Katherine J. Wilcox and her husband Darrell of Coventry, CT and Mary Ann Smiarowski of Granby, MA. Calling hours will be held Saturday December 23 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, from 9:00am to 11:00am with a graveside service to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, Alfred’s family requests donations be made to The Center for Extended Care, 150 University Dr. Amherst, MA 01002.
