HOLYOKE
Ann Mary (Moriarty) Destromp, age 80 of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Day Brook Village in Holyoke, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late John F. and Mary M. (McCarthy) Moriarty, and was a graduate of the former St. Jerome High School. Ann was a former realtor and business owner. She then worked in banking for 25 years, retiring from Bank of Western Mass in 2000. Ann was a member of the first Holyoke Grand Colleen’s Court in 1955. She was a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, John N. Destromp; two sons: Fred Destromp and his wife Peggy of Holyoke, and John Destromp of Chicopee; two daughters: Kathleen Dunn and her husband Martin, and Joanne Allen and her husband Matthew, all of Holyoke. She was a wonderful grandmother to her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ann is also survived by a sister, Margaret M. Lawrence of Holyoke; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Moriarty of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by two brothers, John and George Moriarty. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 12 at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
