HOLYOKE
Balbina “Bee” (Kotula) Szalkucki passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Katarzyna and Walenty Kotula. Bee was born and raised in Holyoke and lived in her childhood home most of her life. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Cross and a member of the former Mater Dolorosa (MD) Parish. Bee was a proud member of the MD choir and loved listening to their album of Polish Christmas Carols. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Bee was predeceased by her husband John, her brother Adolph, and her sisters Dominia (Dee); Wladyslawa (Edna), and Valentine (Val). She is survived by her brother Anthony of CT and her sister Frances of Chicopee. She is also survived by her children, Carol of Chicopee, Thomas and his wife Linda of Wisconsin and Paul of Vermont. She also leaves four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Faith and family were the two most important things in her life. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Mount Saint Vincent, especially Dr. Heather Wark. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Church, Sycamore Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The family requests donations be made in memory of Bee to Our Lady of the Cross Renovation Fund, 23 Sycamore Street, Holyoke MA 01040.
