Barbara J. (Pete) (Danek) Vachon, 61, of Chicopee left this earth suddenly on August 29, 2017.  Born January 10, 1956, to Barbara (Guiel) Danek and the late Bernard T. Danek, she grew up in Holyoke, attended Holyoke Schools and Holyoke Community College, and was a lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts.  Barbara loved her family, her books, and conversation. She had an especially wonderful outlook and will always be remembered for the way she could find the humor in any situation.  She is pre-deceased by her father, Bernard in 2015.  She is survived by her mother, Barbara Danek, her daughter, Megan Hudgik and grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan, Matthew, and Gabrielle Walz; her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Ellen Hudgik and her grandchildren Emma and Jacob Hudgik; sister, Laura (Danek) Myers and her husband, Thomas; brother Bernard Danek and his wife Judith; sister Mary Hammonds, and sister Helen (Danek) Bernier and her husband David, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved dog Peanut. The Funeral will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Church, Sycamore Street, Holyoke. Burial will be private. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  in the Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Barbara to Dakin Humane Society, 71 Union St, Springfield, MA 01105. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
