SOUTH HADLEY:  Blanche (Plichta) Cavanaugh, age 93, of South Hadley, passed away on August 10, 2017 at Wingate of South Hadley. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late John and Nellie Plichta, attended Amherst schools and worked for many years at the Holyoke Gas & Electric Company.  Blanche loved gardening and traveling along the back roads of rural New England. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Cavanaugh and her three siblings; Rose, Edward and Richard Plichta.  Blanche is survived by her daughter, Margaret of South Hadley, her sister-in-law Erline Plichta; her nephews, Bruce Plichta and Frank Cavanaugh and her nieces Kathy Stadnicki and Mary Pussey. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 16th at 9:00 a.m. in St. Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Blanche to Hospice Life Care, 500 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
