Bridget T. (Garrett) Kennedy

HOLYOKE

Bridget T. (Garrett) Kennedy, age 88, of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Loomis House.  She was born and educated in Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Rowan) Garrett.  She came to the United States in 1948 at the age of 18 and had worked in housekeeping for over 20 years at the former Holyoke Geriatric Center, retiring in 1992.  She was a member of the Elmwood Towers Tenants Association, was involved with the Valley Opportunity Council.  Her husband, John F. Kennedy predeceased her on February 27, 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Theresa “Terry” Moreau and her husband Robert of Chicopee; a grandson, Jeffrey Moreau and his wife Courtney of West Springfield and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband Bridget was predeceased by three brothers, Patrick, Michael and Peter and two sisters, Catherine Garrett and Mary Ruddy.  Bridget’s family would like to thank Linda Leary and Sister Mary Lou Gillon for the kindness they have shown to the family. The Funeral will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m.  in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St.  Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery.  A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bridget to Cystic Fibrosis of CT, 306 Industrial Park Rd, Middletown, CT 06457 or Fidelco Guide Dog, 103 Vision Highway, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
