Cynthia Smith

Cynthia Smith, age 61, of Chicopee, MA passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.  Cynthia was the daughter of the late Edward and Pauline Janik and was a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School in Chicopee. Cynthia was a proud employee of CVS pharmacy in Chicopee for 40 years.  She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, William A. Smith; son, Nicholas E. Smith; daughter, Ashley Smith; son, Sean W. Smith and his fiancé Desiree Daniels of Lyndonville, VT; her beloved cat Leonard; her sweet dog Lilly; brothers, Francis M. Janik of Leeds; Steven and his wife Joanne Janik of Chicopee; brother; best friend Charlene Mahoney and her husband William Mahoney of South Hadley. Cynthia had a great love for shopping, traveling, decorating, taking long walks, and most importantly her family. She was happiest at the Disney Parks and Resorts, which she frequented with her family, and most especially at Vero Beach. She found particular joy in “laying out” poolside beneath the summer sun within the comfort of her own backyard.  There was nothing quite like the feeling of happiness which seemed to radiate from her during any event or vacation where her immediate family was present. Cynthia always put her family first loving them all equally and unconditionally.  As a wife she was like no other; always taking care of the primary and secondary responsibilities that, often times we take for granted or even forget, and that were essential for maintaining an amazing foundation which allowed her family to thrive.  As a mother to her three smart, talented and successful children, she was anything but ordinary. She took the time to help them when it was needed, teach them when she could, and love them always; Cynthia did her best to raise three great children in a not always so great world. Cynthia was loved by many and will be missed by all.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Chestnut Street, Springfield. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday, November 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
