HOLYOKE
George David Casavant, age 76, of Holyoke, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was born in Holyoke on August 19, 1943, son of the late George A. and Dorothy (Wailgum) Casavant, and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. David was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. After his military service, he earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Westfield State College, and he then enjoyed a career as an educator for more than 40 years. David was a devoted husband to his wife, Maureen (Mitchell) Casavant, and a loving father to his two daughters, Kerry and Kate. He also shared a special bond with his two sons-in-law, Chris and Matt. David’s life revolved around his family and he especially treasured his time with his four grandchildren, Rylan, Harper, Mitchell, and Clare. David was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Patsy Glidden. He is also survived by many loving family members including Tommy and Sibby Mitchell, Beth and Myles Bartley, Kristen and Tom Krestik; a sister, Judy Dunn; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend David’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 23 at 11 am in Our Lady of The Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you consider performing a random act of kindness in memory of David.
