David B. Welch

HOLYOKE

David B. Welch, age 67, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. He was born in Holyoke to the late Thomas D. and Eleanor V. (Stack) Welch, graduated from Holyoke High School, and attended Holyoke Community College. Dave had a long career working for the City of Holyoke, first with the Holyoke School Department and then as City Messenger for 35 years, retiring several years ago. He also served as Administrative Assistant for 28 years to the Holyoke City Council. Dave was a life member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902, and an avid fan of Elvis Presley, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patti (Grace) Welch; a daughter, Kristen Welch of Holyoke; a sister, Mary A. Dearman and her husband Gary of Holyoke; two brothers, Timothy J. Welch and his wife Carol of New Canaan, CT and T. Matthew Welch and his wife Mary of Melbourne, FL; a sister-in-law Mary Grace of Easthampton; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Holyoke Health Care Center for all of their compassionate care. The funeral be held on Saturday, May 11, at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
