HOLYOKE:  Donald E. Kelly, age 79, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017.  He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Charles R. and Catherine (Hannifin) Kelly, and was a 1955 graduate of Holyoke High School.  He worked at H.P. Hood and National Blank Book before embarking on a 29 year career on the Holyoke Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Captain before retiring in 2002.  During his career, Don was recognized for rescues and also received the Arthur J. Petit, Jr. Memorial Award.  He was most proud of the many years he dedicated to fire prevention.  He enjoyed camping and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. A lifelong resident of Holyoke,  Don was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Crimmins) Kelly in 2008.  He is survived by his children, Thomas Kelly and his wife Dawn of Wimauma, FL; Angela Kelly and Geralyn Kelly, both of Holyoke and Sandra Leary and her husband Terry of Portland, ME; along with five grandchildren, Carissa Kelly, Donnell Kennedy, Kia Rivera, Jessica Leary and Jordan Leary.  Besides his parents and wife, Don was also predeceased by two brothers, Charles Kelly, Jr. and Robert Kelly.  The Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Church, Sycamore St.  Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas J.
