Doris Beauregard Obituary

HOLYOKE:  Doris Robitaille Beauregard passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 11, 2019  surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old. Doris was born in Holyoke on February 11, 1925 and attended local schools. She graduated from the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1946,  and worked as a nurse at Springfield Hospital, Holyoke Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. In June 1949 she married George N. Beauregard of South Hadley. They first lived in Boston where she worked as a nurse at Mass General Hospital while George finished law school at Boston University. In 1953  they moved to Holyoke where they have resided ever since. For many years, she and George also enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Sarasota, Florida playing golf with their many friends. Doris was a loving and caring woman. She devoted her life to her family. She raised three children Beth, Mark and Nancy, and was a true partner to her husband George. She was a friend to many and was blessed with many friends. Over the years she was actively involved in the Holyoke Blood Bank, the Holyoke Home Information Center and the Holyoke Day Nursery. When not involved in family and volunteer activities, she loved to travel, play bridge with her bridge group and golf at the Springfield Country Club. She was a devoted communicant at Our Lady of the Cross parish and was a Lady Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Doris and George had deep faith which sustained them throughout their lives. In 2000 they were thrilled to visit the Holy Land which had profound meaning for them.
Doris is survived by her husband of 70 years George, her daughter Beth Weaver of New York City,  her son Mark Beauregard and his wife Cindy of South Hadley and her daughter Nancy Nastasi and her husband Richard of Raleigh NC.  She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jeff Beauregard of San Francisco, Steven Beauregard of Los Angeles, Courtney Weaver and her husband Paul Sonne of Washington DC, Greg Beauregard of Suffield CT, Austin Nastasi of Raleigh NC, Olivia Nastasi of Charlotte NC, and Charlotte Weaver of New York City. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Lyons of Tewksbury, MA.  On August 25, 2019, Doris was blessed with holding her newly born first great grandchild Maya George Sonne.
Doris was the daughter of the late Louisa Brouillard Robitaille and Camille Robitaille. She is also predeceased by her son in law Bill Weaver, her brother Roger Robitaille, her sister Lorraine Rondeau, her stepmother Clemencia Robitaille and stepsiblings Roma Donais , Norman Huot, Doris Schneyer and Donald Huot. The family wants to thank the many home health aides , especially Kate, who provided such compassionate and loving care to Doris over the last eighteen months. They also want to thank Cooley Dickinson Hospice , especially Andree, Chaplain Ben and vocalist Kamaya. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 16th  from 8:30 to 10:15am at the  Barry J. Farrell Funeral  Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at our Lady of the Cross Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donation to Our Lady of the Cross Church or to a charity of your choice.
