Dr. James H. Mahoney

James H. Mahoney, M.D. age 80, of South Hadley, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late James H. and Katherine M. (McTigue) Mahoney and graduated from Holyoke High School, the College of the Holy Cross, and Georgetown University Medical School. He completed his medical training at Albany Medical Center, served in the United States Navy, and practiced medicine in Holyoke for more than thirty years. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Joyce E. (Lawler) Mahoney; a daughter Maura Daly and her husband Joseph of Norwell; a son Atty. Michael Mahoney and his wife Andrea of Cape Elizabeth, ME; seven grandchildren: Joe and Ryan Daly, Caroline, Madelyn, Brooke, Hadley and Mary Mahoney, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral for Doctor Mahoney will be held Saturday, May 11th at 9:45 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, 221 Appleton Street, Holyoke MA 01040 or to a charity of ones choice.
