Edna (Karpinski) Lewandowski Pysz, age 96, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Holyoke Healthcare Center. She was born in Hatfield, a daughter of the late Stefan and Feliksa (Maliszewski) Karpinski, and was a 1942 graduate of Smith Academy in Hatfield. Edna was a longtime manager of the former J.M. Fields Store in Holyoke, retiring in 1978. She was a former communicant of Mater Dolorosa Parish, where she belonged to the Church Rosary Society. Edna was also a member and past president of the Polish National Alliance Group #2400, and a life member of American Legion Post #351, Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edmund Lewandowski, in 1967 and her second husband, Joseph Pysz, in 1987. Edna is survived by a son, Robert J. Lewandowski of Holyoke; a daughter, Ann M. Renshaw and her husband Thomas of Woods Hole, MA; two grandsons, John Lewandowski and Michael Lewandowski and his wife Berenice; a brother, Leonard Karpinski; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husbands, Edna was predeceased by two brothers, Albin and Richard Karpinski, and three sisters, Mabel Raffa, Regina Auer, and Mandy Krisco. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
