Eduardo Patricio Salas

Eduardo Patricio Salas, age 69, passed away at home on Saturday April 13, 2019. Eduardo was born in Quito, Ecuador, one of 11 children of Aurelio and Anita Salas. After completing two years of college in Ecuador Patricio came to the U.S. and was a Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Holyoke YMCA and enjoyed swimming, his cats, and could speak several languages including French, German, and Spanish. Patricio (or Patrick as he was to known to many of his friends and family members) was best known for his sense of humor and his love and devotion for his family.  Patricio is survived by his wife Elba Piedra; two sons: Michael Piedra and his wife Brenda of Chicopee, and Edward Piedra of Chicopee; 7 grandchildren: Alicia Piedra, Michael Piedra II, Stephanie Piedra, Hannah Piedra, Christina Piedra, Nicholas Piedra, and Angelina Piedra; three brothers: Roberto Salas, Fabian Salas, and Freddy Salas; two sisters: Elsie Salas and Wilma Salas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eduardo was predeceased by a son, Fausto Piedra, in 2017, and his siblings Didier, Edwin, Fernando, Melita, and Greta. The funeral will be held Thursday April 18 at 8:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, followed by a Libra Service in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church at 9:30am. Burial will be held in St. Jerome Cemetery.
