Eileen M. (Mulvaney) Gilhooley

HOLYOKE

Eileen M. (Mulvaney) Gilhooley, a longtime resident of Holyoke, died peacefully on February 28, 2018 at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center. Devoted daughter of the late Patrick J. and Nellie (O’Sullivan) Mulvaney, she was born in Holyoke on October 31, 1917. Eileen was a devout Catholic and a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and former communicant of Holy Cross Parish. For many years she was employed by the City of Holyoke in the Assessor’s Office. Eileen is survived by her sister, Theresa (Goldie) Mulvaney McGinnis of Newtown Square, PA. She also leaves behind a great many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Eileen was devoted to her extended family and took great pride and interest in everyone, particularly the youngest members. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Gilhooley, her sister Mary Mulvaney Sullivan of Kansas, and her brothers Lawrence P. Mulvaney of Chicopee, Edward J. Mulvaney of Holyoke, Leo F. Mulvaney, Paul Mulvaney of Warwick, RI, and Joseph F. Mulvaney of Holyoke, and her niece, Mariellen Mulvaney of Holyoke who provided great comfort and assistance to Eileen, and nephew Larry Mulvaney. The entire Mulvaney family gives heartfelt thanks to the kind and dedicated staff at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center for the wonderful care provided to Eileen during her later years. Special thanks is given to those, especially Ruth Willemain of Holyoke, who faithfully delivered the sacrament of Holy Communion to Eileen during her residence at Mount Saint Vincent. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St. Holyoke. Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to the Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Holyoke.
