Eleanor Mae (Jakubasz) Contini, age 101, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Bertram House in Swampscott MA. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Jakubasz and graduated from Easthampton High School. She lived most of her life in South Hadley, and was a communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church. Eleanor was a longtime Supervisor in the Office of Special Investigations at Westover AFB in Chicopee, retiring in 1974. During World War II she worked at the Springfield Ordnance District. She was the widow of Gaston “George” E. Contini who died on December 5, 1995. Eleanor is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her grand nephew Rand Folta of Swampscott. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Jakubasz and three sisters, Anna Folta, Sophia Harriott and Victoria Bourget. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. A calling hour will be held Saturday morning prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
