EASTHAMPTON
Gerhard Ernst Perschel, 82, of Easthampton, died Tuesday November 13, 2018 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke with his loving family by his side. Gerhard was born in Regis-Breitingen, Germany son of the late Artur and Herta (Kretzschmar) Perschel. He was educated in German schools before emigrating to the United States where he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his service, Gerhard worked for many years as a Tool Dyer at U. S. Tsubaki in Holyoke, retiring in 2000. Gerhard was a member and past president of the Northampton German-American Club, enjoyed bowling, golfing, and shuffleboard, and spending winters in Florida. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Holyoke. Gerhard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Luisa (Patkos) Perschel; a daughter, Patricia Coffelt and her husband Glen of Easthampton; a son, Michael Perschel of Easthampton; a grandson Christopher Coffelt and his wife Sarah; his beloved great-grandson Samuel Coffelt; and two sisters, Erika Bergmann and Regina Konig, both of Germany. He was predeceased by his grandson Brian Coffelt in 2009, and a brother, Horst Preschel. The family would like to thank everyone that cared for Gerhard over the past months and weeks. Please remember Gerhard with a beer. “Prost!” A funeral service will be held Sunday November 18 at 4:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
