Harry J. Rowley, Jr.

Harry John Rowley, Jr., age 89, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Wingate at South Hadley. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Harry J. Rowley, Sr. and Mary E. (Sheehan) Rowley, and graduated from Holyoke High School. Harry then served in the United States Navy. After being Honorably Discharged he graduated from Holyoke Junior College. Harry then worked until his retirement as an Equipment Installation Technician for New England Telephone and its successors where he was a member of IBEW Local 2324. He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Church in Chicopee. He was also a Knight of the Knights of Columbus Fairview Council, belonged to the Holyoke Elks, and the Fairview Buffalo Club. Harry was predeceased in 2017 by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn A. (Carr) Rowley. He is survived by his children: Mary Ann Czajkowski and her husband Edward, Ellen Williams, and John Rowley and his wife Linda; his grandchildren: Katie Sullivan, Elizabeth Proulx and husband Steven, Sarah Garber and husband Kevin, Archie Williams, John Jr. and Joshua Rowley; his great-grandchildren: Nathan and Madison Proulx, Olivia Sullivan, and Kennedy, Lincoln, and Kayce Garber; and his very close cousin whom he considered a sister, Judith Judd, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Harry was predeceased by his sister, Mary K. Haire. Calling hours will be held Friday, July 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, July 27th at 10:15 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Fuller Road, Chicopee.
