HOLYOKE

Helene A. Stryhalaleck, age 65, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Helene was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Stephen and Helena (Matuszek) Stryhalaleck. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Westfield State College. Helene was a retired teacher with the Holyoke Public School System where she had taught since 1996, and was a communicant of Our Lady of The Cross Parish. Helene is survived by her two daughters, Nadine Makowski and her husband Joseph, and Holly Pond and her partner Dwayne Dextraze, all of Holyoke; her grandchildren Ashley and Samantha Pond, Michael Makwoski, Amber Cushing and her husband Zak, and Cameron Dextraze; and a brother Stephen Stryhalaleck of Florida. She also leaves a niece Stephanie Norris-Romani and a nephew Steven Stryhalaleck. All services were private and handled by Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home. The family requests that donations be made in Helene’s memory to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
