HOLYOKE:  Herve G. Dion, age 78, a resident of Venice, FL since 2006, formerly of Holyoke, entered into eternal life on Monday, November 20, 2017. He was born and educated in Holyoke, son of the late Joseph and Anita (Brindamour) Dion.  Herve was a United States Coast Guard Veteran, serving from 1959 to 1963.  He was a Machinist for Spaulding for 13 years, Operator of Crays Package Store in Holyoke for 20 years, and retired from the University of Massachusetts Maintenance Department in Amherst after 11 years.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Merrilda (Trombley) Dion; four daughters: Susan Depelteau and spouse Maureen of Enfield, CT; Denise Richardson and husband James of West Springfield; Annette Duda of Venice, FL; Nicole Amos and husband Duane of Rutland, MA; several beloved grandchildren and cherished great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Dion of Morriston, FL and a sister, MaryJeanne Danner of Bowie, MD. Herve is best known for his verbal sparring about politics and religion.  The Funeral will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Herve to New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.
