HOLYOKE
James M. Fitzgibbon, age 76, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late John P. and Mary (Gorman) Fitzgibbon and was a graduate of the former Rosary High School. Jim was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Scott Graphics/James River Graphics in South Hadley, retiring in 2002. An avid bowler, he won the 1962 New England Bowling Championship. He was also a fan of basketball and football, especially the New England Patriots. Jim was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Parish and a member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks, #902. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of 2 North at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for their compassionate care of Jimmy for the past two years. He is survived by a brother, John P. “Jack” Fitzgibbon of Holyoke and many cousins from the Fitzgibbon, Monaghan and Whelihan families. The Funeral will be held on Monday, August 13th at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery.
