Janet R. (Aiken) Lacasse

Janet R. (Aiken) Lacasse, age 88, of West Springfield passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at her home.  She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late James and Albina (Bourque) Aiken and was a 1948 graduate of Holyoke High School.  Janet was dubbed the “voice of Ampad” where she worked as the receptionist for 29 years and wrote poems for its employees and her friends. She was a class reunion committee member for many years for the Class of ’48 and often sang the class song at the reunions. During these past 2 years, Janet was well cared for by 3 indispensable care givers: Dagmar Morales, Sofnia Santiago, Clarissa Guzman.  Janet was the widow of Alfred J. Lacasse, who died in 1992. She leaves 2 daughters, Lyn Morrissey of Canton and Cindy Baran of West Springfield; 5 granddaughters: Melissa Stenwick of West Springfield, Brenda O’Rourke of West Springfield, Kristyn Willis of Jamaica Plain, Janna Murphy of Marshfield and Beth Rotti of Shrewsbury; 12 great grandchildren; her longtime companion, Herman Picard; a cherished cousin, Diane Charmaine as well as several nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 11:30 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Private burial. A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Trinity Hospice, 200 Hillside Circle, West Springfield MA 01089, whose comfort and guidance were a true blessing these past two weeks.
