Janina (Sawicki) Klos

Janina (Sawicki) Klos, age 94, of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Day Brook Village in Holyoke. She was born and educated in Huta Stepanska, Poland, daughter of the late Anaztazy and Zofia (Jeronczyk) Sawicki. Janina had lived here for many years and was a retired machine operator at Holyoke Wire & Cable Company. She was a longtime communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church, and a member of its Rosary Society. Janina was the widow of Edward Klos. She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Stefania Sawicki, of Granby, and Wladyslawa Sawicki, of Holyoke; a cousin, Edward Jeronczyk and family; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Janina was predeceased by two brothers, Jan and Edmund Sawicki. Relatives and friends are asked to meet for Janina’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 3, at 11:00 am in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janina’s memory to the Polish Center of Discovery and Learning, 33 South Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Barry J.
