Jean Marie Vozella

Jean Marie (St. Lawrence) Vozella, 88, of Holyoke passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Mont Marie Health Care Center.  She was born in Northampton, daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes (Waters) St. Lawrence and was a 1947 graduate of Holyoke High School.  Jean started her business career at Magna Buick while still in high school, was a bookkeeper for many years at Tire Center and Highland Laundry, ending her business career at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke.  She retired in 1992.  Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angelo Vozella, who passed in 1988,  her daughter Mary Dupre in 1975 and a stepson, Michael Vozella in 2002.  She leaves her sister, Margaret Schimke, with whom she lived and her nieces, Kathleen Wigley and her husband Chester M. Wigley, Jr. of Campton, NH and their children Chester and Frederick Wigley and Jennifer Gould; Patricia Schimke and her husband Lawrence I. Mortin of Framingham, MA and their children Ian Schimke and Joshua Mortin; and several other nieces and nephews.  She also leaves her stepchildren, Richard Vozella and Gina Meyer and Mary Lee Efford Astrike who was like a daughter to her and called her Mama Jean. She was well loved by all who knew her.  The Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley.  Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Western Massachusetts, 264 Cottage Street Springfield, MA 01104.
