HOLYOKE
Jeremiah O’Connor, age 84, of Holyoke, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Palmer Health Care Center. He was born in Caherciveen, County Kerry, Ireland, son of the late Michael and Kate (Griffin) O’Connor and emigrated to Holyoke in 1963. He was a longtime employee of the New England Container Company in Chicopee then retired from Mount Tom Box Company in Holyoke. A devout Catholic, he was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Jeremiah looked forward the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and enjoyed following the Kerry Gaelic Football Team. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Gates and nephews Brendan Devlin, William Gates and Edward Gates. Jeremiah is survived by his sister, Mary Devlin and her husband Jack of Northampton; his nephews, Michael and Larkin Gates; and godson, Jeremiah Devlin; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. The Funeral will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jeremiah to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
