Joan A. (Murray) Censabella

Joan A. (Murray) Howard Censabella, age 78, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 29, 2019. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late William F. and Marie (Mason) Murray, and was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School. Joan was a longtime supervisor in the shipping department of U.S. Tsubaki in Holyoke, retiring several years ago. She was a lifelong communicant of Saint Jerome Parish and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Joan was predeceased by the love of her life, Paul V. Howard, on March 1, 2018. She is survived by her four children: Joan M. Janik and her husband Stephen, her caregivers, of Chicopee, Teresa A. Howard of Chicopee, John P. Howard and his wife Carol of Westfield, and Michael Censabella and his wife Kimberly of Springfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: William Murray of Springfield, and Robert Murray and his wife Nancy of South Hadley; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Joan was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Diane Richards Howard; a brother, Raymond DeCasse; and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Stratton and Jacqueline Milne. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 5^th at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Patrick Chapel of Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 4^th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
