John J. Fitzgerald

CHICOPEE:  John J. Fitzgerald, age 80, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Nicholas T. and Mary H. (Greaney) Fitzgerald and was educated in the Holyoke schools. John was a retired employee of Digital Corporation in Westfield, and had lived most of his life in Holyoke. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jacqueline A. (Berard) Fitzgerald; three sons and their wives: Kevin and Paula Fitzgerald of Holyoke, Brian and Debra Fitzgerald of Easthampton, & Shawn and Sally Fitzgerald of Granby; four grandchildren: Nicholas, Kathleen “Katie”, Brendan and Emily Fitzgerald; a sister, Kathleen Frey and her husband Eugene of Holyoke, a brother-in-law Joseph Bryant of East Longmeadow, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Bryant and Mary Larocque. The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 28^th at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Home Health, 50 Maple Street, Springfield MA 01102.
