It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John M. Sugrue III on Christmas Day 2018. Born in Holyoke on January 28, 1948 he was the son of John and Mary Sugrue. John was a 1966 graduate of Holyoke High School and attended Holyoke Junior College and Westfield State College. He developed a career as a land surveyor and worked for many years in the private sector for survey firms including Shurman & Pharmer. He was the best crew chief for miles around, having developed skills at the drafting board as well as in the field. He worked for many years for the City of Holyoke Engineering Department. John was a heartfelt man, loving and caring….gentle in nature…full of wisdom, both practical and profound.
